🛡️ Zola Safety Tips · Guard your heart with wisdom

Your safety matters to us 🌹

At Zola, we believe love should be safe, honest, and God-honouring. Most people here are genuine and seeking the same meaningful connection you are. But wherever people gather, a few may not have good intentions. These simple guidelines will help you date wisely and protect your heart.

💛 The Golden Rule

Never send money to someone you haven't met in person — no matter how convincing their story. This single boundary stops nearly every scam. A genuine person who cares for you will never pressure you for money, gift cards, cryptocurrency, or financial help.

🚩 Watch for these warning signs

  • They profess strong feelings very quickly ("you're my soulmate" after a few days)
  • They always have an excuse not to video call or meet in person
  • They ask to move the conversation off Zola to WhatsApp, Telegram, or text right away
  • Their story doesn't quite add up, or details change over time
  • They mention money troubles, emergencies, investments, or "temporary" financial needs
  • They claim to be travelling, working overseas, or unable to meet for unusual reasons

✅ Smart habits for safe connection

  • Keep conversations on Zola. Our safety tools only protect you while you're on the app. Be cautious of anyone who rushes to take things elsewhere.
  • Video chat early. A short video call within the first few days helps confirm someone is who they say. Ask them to wave or show something nearby — real people can do this easily.
  • Take your time. Genuine connection isn't rushed. Anyone pressuring you to move fast is a red flag.
  • Meet in public first. When you're ready to meet, choose a public place and tell a trusted friend where you'll be.
  • Trust your instincts. If something feels off, it probably is. You never owe anyone your trust.
  • Guard your personal information. Don't share your home address, financial details, or government IDs.

🆘 If something feels wrong

Use the Report button on any profile or chat to alert our moderation team — we review every report. You can also Block anyone instantly, and they'll no longer be able to see or contact you.

If you ever feel you're in immediate danger, please contact your local emergency services. To report online fraud in Canada, visit antifraudcentre.ca or call 1-888-495-8501.
